This weekend the Stowe Yacht Club held their annual Green Mountain Regatta. The radio controlled model J Boats are as long as 8.5 feet, with masts up to 9.5 feet tall. They weigh 65 to 90 pounds and carry up to 4,000 square inches of sail. They are scale models of full-sized boats that raced in the America’s Cup in the 1920s, when the rules specified the racers had to be 12 meters long.
Some participants traveled from California, Florida, Maryland, Connecticut, and Massachusetts to participate.
WCAX used a brief clip of our footage in their coverage of the event:
Big thanks to JD Langdon for inviting us to film the event and WCAX’s Cat Viglienzoni.
